In recent months, I’ve written about original ideas and brilliance.

I recently saw a Tumblr post by Austin Kleon quoting C.S. Lewis:

Even in literature [and] art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it.

I also read this gem by Kent Beck in Backing Thinkwards:

I don’t think there is such a thing as creativity, only being yourself, which, since you are unique, results naturally in unique thoughts.

These quotes are a wonderful postscript to what I was trying to say in my previous posts.

Keep telling the truth, even if you think “everybody knows that”. Your ideas will be original to someone somewhere and to them, you will be brilliant.
